Terry Earl Adams joined Our Lord Saturday, March 12, 2005 after a lengthy illness.
Terry was born September 9, 1957 in Broken Arrow, OK to Marie and Harry Adams. A proud Osage, he was given his Indian name Khu-Tha Wa-Sho-She (Eagle Warrior) in 1970 by Grandpa Henry Lookout. Terry was of the Hunka Clan from the Pawhuska District. He married Shawna Whitecrow on September 20, 1996 in Las Vegas, NV. They have two children; a daughter, Rachel and a son, Adam. He worked 26 years as a Tulsa County Tax Assessor. As President of the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa, Terry leaves his son, daughter, nieces and nephews well versed in their traditions and, therefore, IICOT will continue to grow, support and maintain our native culture (a local organization that his father, and Pierce St. John formed in 1978). Terry has served as Head Man Dancer, Head Singer, and Master of Ceremonies numerous times throughout the United States and Europe.
He was a Past Worshipful Master of the Skiatook Masonic Lodge #416 where he was the Chairman of the Advisory Committee, a member of the Saba Grotto, Tulsa Scottish Rite, and the Akdar Shrine Center. He is listed three times as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America, Who's Who in America National Registry, a past Shriner of the Year, and the Akdar Shrine Circus Chairman for 2001 and 2002. He was Director of the Oklahoma Masonic Indian Degree Team, and a member of the Akdar Shrine Indian Unit, the only all-Indian Shrine unit in North America. He traveled extensively in the US and Europe with the Oklahoma Masonic Indian Degree Team. Terry thrived on his affiliations with the the Masons and the Shrine. His dedication to helping children in need and his generous heart are well known. He visited almost every Shrine hospital and burn unit in the US, dancing for the children and leaving smiles behind. Terry's hard work not only with Masonic Affiliations, but also within the Native American Community was always appreciated. His sense of humor will not be forgotten. Terry was a husband, son, brother, uncle, father and friend. His father, Harry Earl Adams, precedes Terry in death. Terry is survived by his wife, Shawna Adams, mother, Marie Adams Shultz, son Adam Adams, of the home, daughter, Rachel Adams of Tulsa, OK, sisters, Netah Adams/Ladyman of Wichita Falls, TX, Karla Phillips of Goldendale, WA, and Dolletta Larie Blalock of Tulsa, OK, nieces Lynetta and Margaret Blalock of Tulsa, OK, nephew, Rob Phillips of Anchorage, AK, and a large extended family.
In lieu of flowers, Terry requested donations may be made to the Akdar Shrine Transportation Fund, or the Intertribal Club of Tulsa Scholarship fund.
