Alex L. "A.L." Alexander

On Saturday morning February 12, 2005, at about 3:00 a.m. a bright light was extinguished.
Mr. Alex Lawrence Alexander, Sr. went home with his father. Deacon Alexander was born in Morrilton, Arkansas on January 13, 1913 to Thomas and Alice Alexander. Deacon Alexander joined Union Baptist Church and was baptized thirty two years ago and was devoted and took part in many offices, as a faithful servant. He knew how to follow; and one day surpass him. Alex was a union member of the Operating Engineers and path maker building highways all over Oklahoma and the U.S. He was elected Councilman of the City of Wagoner and held the position for 17 years. He also held the post of Vice-Mayor of Wagoner. Brother Alexander was also quietly known to be a Mason.

Today we say Go in peace with God to a person who never said no to anyone who asked for help. He continued to grow and learn. His Father, Mother, two Daughters, three Brothers and one Sister preceded him in death.
Love ones left to cherish his memories; one sister; L.T. Jones of Wagoner. Five sons; Charlie Alexander and wife Anice, Thomas Alexander and wife Gladys, Alex L. Alexander Jr. all of Tulsa. Eugene Hyeche and wife Jennie and Monroe Alexander and wife Claudia of Wagoner. Four daughters; Rosetta Alexander-Liggins of Tulsa and Siretha Fondville, Cora Gibbs and husband Curtis and Betty Nelson- Hall all of Wagoner.
Eighty-four Grandchildren, eighty-two great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his church family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Union Baptist Church in Wagoner. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory . To share a memory of A.L. please visit www.shipmanfuneralhomes.com.
