David was born August 1st 1927 at Elm Springs, Arkansas, to Jim and Nola Alvis. He passed from this life on Feb.27th, 2009 at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Edna Bare and a brother Casey Alvis.
On April 8th, 1953 David married Clara Wisdom and they moved across the road from the Alvis family farm, West of Adair, where they made their home for the past 56 years.
They have one daughter, Reba Wilson and husband Garry of Chelsea; and 2 grand-children, Garret of San Francisco, California and Kinda Wilson of Tulsa.
Being an only child, Reba continually begged her parents for a brother or sister to no avail. When she married Garry- she was thrilled to have instant siblings by claiming Garry's brothers and sisters, plus spouses - Jerry and Sharon, Larry and Carol, Patty, Mike and Tammy, and Bob and Sherry- all Wilsons.
Pa-Pa Jess was elated and the Wilson family quickly merged and began celebrating holidays together.
As each new grand child arrived, Garret, Kinda, Shannon, Kirk, Crista, Cody, Levi, Billy, Angel, Jon, Kyla, Ashlynn… all started saying we're going to "Grand- Pa and Grand-Ma Alvis."
Each grand-child that married introduced their spouse to the extended family. Matt created his own holiday tradition by beginning Thanksgiving day at 5am with a private home cooked breakfast with Grand-Pa and Grand-Ma before heading to the woods before the deer woke up. At his urging Grand-Pa would go along unless the cool morning air proved just too much for the arthritis.
Now that Generation has children of their own… and have kept the tradition of going to Grand-Pa and Grand-Ma Alvis' with the highlight of the year being Thanksgiving, where the house can be found overflowing with someone eating in every room - and all the kids claiming the basement!
He is also survived by sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Jerry and Treva Sien and son Darrel, and sister-in-law Trilbie Siebert of Pryor, brother-in-law Tim Bare of Arkansas and children Dale, Anita and Patty, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins along with wonderful neighbors and friends.
