HARDTNER-Edwin “Gwynne” Adams, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Kiowa Hospital District Manor. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Hardtner with Pastor Elizabeth Kirkwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardtner-Elwood Cemetery. Edwin “Gwynne” Adams was born at Medicine Lodge on July 21, 1912 to Edwin and Maude Stone Adams. He attended and graduated from the Medicine Lodge schools. During school years he was a charter member of the FFA club in Medicine Lodge. On September 8, 1940 he and Beulah Baier were united in marriage. As a young man he broke horses to ride and played the part of an Indian in the very first cast of the Peace Treaty. He worked as a cattle sorter at Sale Barns in the area for 40 years and worked at the Gyp Mill in Medicine Lodge for 7 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hardtner, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Wendall Adams and Alfred Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah of Hardtner, three sons; Eddie Adams and wife, Marsha of Alva, Oklahoma, Jim Adams and wife, Mary Jane of Manhattan, Kansas, John Adams and wife, Charlene of Edmond, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Hardtner or the Barber County 4-H Foundation through the funeral home.
Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2007 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and at the church before the service.
